The Most Overlooked FBS Quarterback in 2026

The University of Hawaii is some 2500 miles from the continent, therefore it is easy to forget about due to the distance and a disconnect. In spite of this, University of Hawaii quarterback Micah Alejado, many would argue, is one of the most talented FBS player many college football fans have not heard about as we move into the 2026 season.
Alejado, though undersized at 5’10 180 pounds, led powerhouse Bishop Gorman High School (NV) to a national title as their quarterback. Howver, he was largely overlooked by major FBS programs due to his size. The University of Hawaii was not one of those programs remained steadfast, resulting in a major recruiting coup when Alejado chose to continue his college career at Manoa.

As a true freshman, Alejado practiced and adjust to the college game while backing up 3-year starter Breydan Schager. Due to a season ending injury to Schager, Alejado was called in to start the final game of the 2025 season and gave fans a preview of his talent, leading Hawaii to a 38-30 upset over New Mexico. For the night, the true freshman passed for 469 yards (37/57 passes) and 5 touchdowns in his debut.

Fast forward to the 2025 season which saw Alejado being an integral factor in the University of Hawaii turnaround and posting its first winning season in four seasons under head coach Timmy Chang - 9-4, including a Hawaii Bowl victory over Cal.

Alejado’s 2026 statistics:

Despite missing several games due to injury, Alejado passed for 285/430 passes; 66.33% completion rate; 3106 yards; 7.2 ave.; 24 touchdowns; 9 int.; 78 longest pass.
